Our Think Pharmacy First Drop-in Event
Monday 10 February 2025
For those who missed the first Think Pharmacy First Drop-in Event at The New Queen Street and Stanground Surgeries on Monday 3 February 2025, there is another opportunity to learn how the NHS Pharmacy First scheme can help you and your family access healthcare for seven common conditions quickly and easily.
The second Think Pharmacy First event will take place on Monday 10 February 2025 from 10am to 2pm at The New Queen Street Surgery, located at Syers Lane, Whittlesey, Peterborough, PE7 1AT.
This event provides an excellent chance for patients and the local community in Whittlesey and surrounding areas to learn how Pharmacy First can save time, reduce pressure on GP appointments, and improve healthcare accessibility for everyone.

Lyndsay Cocks, Practice Manager at The New Queen Street and Stanground Surgeries, shared her thoughts on the first event:
“It was fantastic to see so many patients showing interest in the Pharmacy First scheme and understanding how it can save them time, making healthcare more accessible. Many patients were surprised to learn that Community Pharmacists are specially trained to assess and treat a range of minor conditions – they can even prescribe medication if needed.
These include conditions like sinusitis (for those aged 12 years and over), shingles (for those aged over 18 years old), sore throats (for those aged 5 years and over), earaches (for those aged between 1 and 17), impetigo (for those aged 1 year and over), infected insect bites (for those aged 1 year and over), and UTIs (for women aged 16–64 years).”
“The scheme is designed to be quick, easy, and incredibly convenient. By visiting a local pharmacy first, patients can often get the help they need without filling out an Anima questionnaire, waiting on the phone, or booking an appointment with a GP.”
“The feedback from the first event has been overwhelmingly positive, with many patients appreciating how simple and effective the service is. This service really helps take pressure off GP appointments and A&E, ensuring that those who need urgent care are seen faster.”
The second Think Pharmacy First Drop-in Event offers another chance to learn more and ask questions about the scheme. Patients and the local community are invited to drop in on Monday 10 February 2025, from 10am to 2pm, to find out how Pharmacy First can benefit them and their families. There’s no need to book.
